Primp

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 17 August 2026

Primp is built to need as little of your data as possible. There is no account, and the outfit photos you rate are never stored — not on our servers, and not on your device. Rating a look does require sending your photo to a third-party AI service, so we name that service below and ask for your agreement inside the app before any photo is sent. This policy explains exactly what we collect, how we collect it, and what happens to your information.

No account required

You can use Primp without signing up, without a password, and without giving us an email address. You are identified only by an anonymous ID generated on your device by our subscription provider (RevenueCat). We do not build a profile of who you are.

Your photos and the AI that reads them

Primp cannot score a look without sending it to a third-party AI service, so we ask you first. Before you rate anything, an onboarding screen names exactly what is sent and who receives it, and no photo leaves your device until you tap to agree. If you would rather not share your photos this way, don’t rate a look — the transfer only ever happens when you ask for a rating.

Here is what is sent. When you rate a look, your photo — together with the style details you chose, the occasion, and the judge personality you picked — is sent over an encrypted connection to our backend, which passes it to Google’s Gemini vision model through OpenRouter, an AI gateway. Those two companies, Google and OpenRouter, are the only third parties that see your photo. Nothing identifying goes with it: no name, no email address, no anonymous ID, and no location.

Your photo is analysed and discarded as soon as the rating is generated. It is never written to a database, never saved to our servers, and is not kept on your device by Primp. There is no photo history — an image exists only for the few seconds it takes to score it. Neither we nor our AI providers use your photos or style details to train AI models.

The style details you choose to share

During onboarding you can optionally tell Primp about yourself — an age range, skin tone, hair colour, style vibes, and colours you love or avoid — so the advice suits you. We collect these only from the answers you type or tap on that screen, and they live only on your device. They are sent to the same AI service alongside each rating so the feedback fits you, then discarded after the response, exactly like your photo. They are never saved to our database or sent to analytics. You can skip every question, and change or erase them any time.

What we do store

To make the app work, a small amount of information — collected from the answers you give during onboarding, from your subscription status, and from your own use of the app — is kept in our database (Supabase) and sent to our product-analytics provider (PostHog):

  • The first name you’d like to be called
  • Where you heard about Primp
  • Your preferred occasion
  • Your anonymous subscription ID and whether you have an active subscription

We also store a count of how many looks you’ve rated, so we can enforce the free and Premium limits. If you message us through in-app Support, that message is stored (keyed to your anonymous ID) so we can reply. Your progress stats — best score, streak, and weekly trend — are kept only on your device and never leave it.

The services we rely on

Primp shares data with a small number of processors, only to the extent each needs to do its job:

  • OpenRouter — the AI gateway your photo and style details pass through on the way to the model. Processed transiently for that request only.
  • Google — runs the Gemini vision model that actually analyses your photo and style details. Processed transiently for that request only.
  • Supabase — our database, which stores the small profile, usage counts, and support messages described above. It never receives your photos.
  • RevenueCat — manages subscriptions and issues your anonymous ID. It never receives your photos.
  • PostHog — product analytics, to understand how the app is used. It never receives your photos or your style details.
  • Apple — the App Store processes all payments; we never receive your card details.

Each of these providers is bound by its own published privacy and data-processing terms, and we have confirmed that those terms give your data protection at least equal to what this policy promises: they may use what we send only to deliver the service to us, they may not use it for their own purposes, and — for OpenRouter and Google — they may not use your photos or style details to train their models. We share your data with no one else. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.

This website

This marketing website loads no third-party trackers, advertising pixels, or cookies. Visiting it does not create a profile of you.

Payments

Subscriptions are sold and processed by Apple through the App Store. We receive only confirmation of your subscription status to unlock Premium limits. We do not see, store, or process your payment or card information.

Children

Primp is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you are under 13, please do not use the app.

Your control and deletion

“Delete all my data” in the You tab erases everything Primp keeps on your device — your details, your preferences, and your progress stats. To also delete the limited records tied to your anonymous ID in our database (your profile, usage count, and any support messages), contact us and we will remove them. You can manage or cancel your subscription any time in your device’s App Store settings.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app changes. Material changes will be communicated in the app. Please review this page from time to time.
